Description
10" vinyl record (pressed on gray splattered wax). Five song EP includes additional tracks from the 2014 Overstep recording sessions; one of which ended up making its way into the recording sessions for Phish's latest album Fuego. Mike and Scott Murawski penned the songs during a series of writing retreats in New England for Overstep.

The EP includes the upbeat "Normal Phoebe" and "Eclipse" before settling into a quieter and more relaxed "Loon" and "Snow". Though originally written by Mike and Scott for Overstep, "Snow" made its live debut on stage with Phish on Halloween 2013. The original studio track was then recorded with the rest of Phish in Nashville during the Fuego recording sessions. The EP ends with a composed and less traditional rock-esque "The Last Step."

Hi Mike Great work as usual. This is my first time purchasing one of your albums on vinyl. Enjoyed the sound quality more than I expected to. I would recommend this album to friends and family. Looking forward to seeing you at Dick's :) Forever and always a fan!

I'm not sure why, but I didn't have high expectations for this record. I think that I thought that Overstep was so incredible, that there would be no way that these guys had other songs from these sessions that could match that level of output. Holy smokes was I wrong. At first I wondered why they didn't just make a 4 or 5-sided album including these gems, but now I'm glad they didn't. This little record stands up straight on its own. I've also been wondering how long Mike will remain on this peak, but it now seems like he's just permanently perched up there, along with Scott and the other guys and they just aren't going to come down anytime soon. I can't wait to see what they come up with next.

my copy of the last step normal phoebe pops and cracks and "skips" about ten/fifteen seconds after i drop the needle and continues like for about a verse or two. also happens towards the end of the last step. i did use the download card so i could hear the last step while driving. that song the last step. wow. it was at night on some random country county road when all the looseness freeness and the parts of the last step assembled to move me in a way no other song has. three stars for the pops and cracks. five stars for the music i also enjoyed purchasing the last step and tickets for mike gordon at the vic. i hope there is more mike gordon tours to come
